Mario is a Principal in Hugessen’s Montreal office. He is a seasoned finance executive with a background in investment banking, finance and operations and has extensive corporate experience in both public and private corporations in various industries including telecommunications, IT services, consumer products, security and manufacturing. Most recently, he acted as an independent financial advisor to a broad set of clients. He brings skills in Business Strategy, Finance and Organizational Transformation, combining significant transactional experience with hands-on corporate finance experience. Based in Montreal, Mario is responsible for growing our presence in the Quebec market.
With more than 25 years’ experience in business, Mario had the opportunity to fully understand various challenges faced by executives and directors both in the environment of public companies and non-public companies owned by private equity.
Mario started his career as an investment banker for Nesbitt Burns, working both in Montreal and Toronto. He then moved to the corporate side, working in finance in the telecom sector (Microcell Telecommunications), as well in IT services at CGI Group where he gained international corporate finance experience in treasury, finance and mergers and acquisitions transactions. Following that, Mario spent several years as the CFO of Naya Waters, a water bottling company owned by L Catterton and as SVP and Chief Administration Officer based in US, focusing on the cash transportation operations of Garda World. Most recently, Mario undertook several finance and operations mandates as an independent financial advisor to a broad set of clients, including several portfolio companies of the Caisse de dépôt a placement du Québec and also Fonds de solidarité FTQ.
Mario holds a BSc in economics and MBA Finance from Université du Québec à Montréal. He also holds an ICD.D designation from Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto).
