Scott founded the Calgary office of Hugessen. He has been a lead advisor to a significant number of the Compensation Committees across Canada as a Hugessen Partner and as a National Partner and leader of the compensation consulting business in Western Canada for Mercer.

While advising boards and executive teams over the past 15 years, Scott has been involved in all aspects of executive compensation, performance goal setting /evaluation and governance. His clients include large and midsized publicly traded companies as well as larger privately held and public sector organizations across all industries. He is a frequent speaker and contributor of intellectual capital on a broad range of topics around governance, compensation program design, pay and performance linkage and measurement. Scott has been a faculty member for the Institute of Corporate Directors’ Director Education Program for the past decade and, more recently, with the Human Resources and Compensation Committee Effectiveness course.

Experience

Prior to joining Hugessen Consulting as a Partner in October 2008, Scott was a National Partner and Principal with Mercer. Scott joined Mercer in 1996 and from 2001 to 2008 Scott led Mercer's Human Capital business in Calgary. Scott acted as Mercer's lead advisor to the Canadian energy sector and was a leader in the energy sector for Mercer's global Human Capital business. Scott was involved in all aspects of the Canadian business including intellectual capital development, training, mentoring, marketing, and client management. Prior to completing his MBA, Scott managed commercial sales territories for a high tech firm in Toronto for four years.

Education

Scott is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Calgary CFA Society. Scott graduated with distinction from the Schulich School at York University with an MBA and holds a BA in economics from the University of Western Ontario.
