John is a trusted advisor to Compensation Committees and senior management teams across Canada, known for his reliability, expertise, and commitment. As a seasoned consultant with over 10 years of experience, John provides his clients with thoughtful, tailored advice and support on a range of executive compensation, corporate governance and ESG matters. John views his role as a steward for informed decision-making and is driven to address his clients’ issues and challenges head-on.
He is dedicated to providing his clients with the information, tools and guidance that consistently leads to positive outcomes. He approaches complex and sensitive situations with a calm and measured demeanour.
Outside of work, John can be found planning his next international excursion or hunting for rare additions to his vinyl record collection.
Experience
Since joining Hugessen in 2013, John has built a diverse practice supporting public, private and crown corporations across a variety of industries, including financial services, mining and real estate. He has extensive experience with topics including innovative incentive program design, financial performance assessment, IPO preparedness and ESG best practices. John is an active thought leader and regularly shares his insights as a co-presenter for the Institute of Corporate Directors’ (ICD) Directors Education Program’s Role of the Compensation Committee module.
Education
John is a proud alumnus of the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree (First Class), specializing in finance.
